And actually the alternate ending with the watcher kind of freaked me out as an adult. I wish that Child of Glass would get a DVD release. Oct 16 08 8:58 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	A great site about WATCHER IN THE WOODS I found something in an old post of mine on another forum about Watcher that I thought would be of interest - it's a quote from an old Amazon review: Disney has fluctuated between outstanding animated features and some very good live-action films. At one point, the studio lost some of its direction (after Walt died, by the way), and the animation became less than perfect, the live-action films strayed from being family classics (in the sense of Swiss Family Robinson, Old Yeller, etc.) and called up a darker side of the studio. This story, along with Black Hole, Something Wicked This Way Comes, and Child of Glass, is of that era, or should I say, flavor. All four films are not your standard Disney fare. Of them, only Child of Glass remains in the vault, possibly because it was made for television, rather than for the theater. It is well worth looking for and hopefully the studio will release it some day in the future. I have also heard about the Disney PG initiative, which the above films (and I believe TRON) were a part of... I'd love to know the full extent of possible horror/sci-fi/fantasy PG films Disney was considering at that time... My God, what's Bond doing?... Nov 12 08 4:16 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Bradbury was commissioned to turn his short story "Black Ferris" into a feature film, and wrote a detailed scri pt. When the movie failed to get made, he turned the scri pt into a novel--SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES. Was glancing over Bradbury's book Bradbury Speaks, over lunch. The author mentions he had been asked to turn the short story into a screenplay for Gene Kelly (presumably to direct and/or produce), but that Kelly couldn't get it financed.

Dec 20 10 10:22 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	This movie really freaked me out as a kid; I think I was seven or eight years old and the image of the blindfolded ghost girl really preyed on my mind. It was shown on BBC TV one Sunday night and quite a few of my classmates had also watched it. I can still remember sort of panicky feelings I experienced while watching this; I guess it may have been my first exposure to any sort of supernaturally-themed drama outside of Scooby Doo... Never seen any of it since then.

Oct 30 11 10:30 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Not sure why there was so much controversy at Disney regarding this film, what with all the alternate endings. We watched it last night and "got" the story right away. The kids liked the alternate endings better, even with cheesy monster. The first ending has the monster on screen a few more seconds, and the second one spells the story out even more (and allows for an error to remain on screen.) I assume the problems were with the contradictory nature of the alien in which it seems to be good/evil at the same time, and the direct reference to witchcraft, which makes the film almost seem a Hammer film. "There is a lot of money tied up in this film and people expect to hear a boom when something blows up, so I'll give them a boom."
