Comics reprints ("Black Ferris", "Mars Is Heaven", etc), heard ZERO HOUR on radio's�SUSPENSE (on the radio, in the '80s), watched "Special Delivery",�"The Life's Work of Juan Diaz" and "The Jar",��adapted for�ALFRED HITCHCOCK and THE MARTIAN CHRONICLES mini-series on TV, as well as the filmed versions of THE ILLUSTRATED MAN, FAHRENHEIT 451 and SOMETHING WICKED THIS WAY COMES.�All made a big impression, and I liked him when I saw him interviewed on TV, seemed like a really nice, enthusiastic�guy, always filled with a genuine sense of wonder. R.I.P. Mr. Bradbury. --and may there be no pitted prunes attributed to your writings�in the hereafter... "I say ALL you scientists are CRACKPOTS! Nothing is going to happen..." Think I'll just sit a little bit tonight and read some of Ray's poetic, romantic words about stuff that happens around the corner or on the other side of the universe.

I smiled when I saw his name and wondered how he was doing now. Got my answer today. :-( Funny, but my first thought upon hearing the news was of Ray Harryhausen. He must be devastated right now. Very sorry I never had the opportunity to meet Bradbury. The only great science fiction writer I got to meet was Issac Asimov back in the late '70s. RIP Ray Cromwell

One of the first contemporary authors I read as a kid, I've always loved his work. For some reason, "THE SOUND OF SUMMER RUNNING" has always been my favorite. Still gives me a kind of weird nostalgic chills. Farewell Sir. SAM33

Jun 6 12 2:21 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I live in Tucson, where we have a mountain with a big "A" on it, called "A Mountain" surprisingly enough. I remember hearing Bradbury speak once, at a convention in Florida, and he told a story about living in Tucson as a kid. He and his brother read in the paper that the world was going to end the next Saturday. (Why that was in the paper, I don't know.) So on Saturday he and his brother climbed to the top of A Mountain with sandwiches and waiting to see it happen. It didn't of course, and I can't remember if there was much of a punchline to the story, but it was charming, imaginative and evocative of the poetry of childhood. Like the man himself. Thanks, Mr. Bradbury, for enriching my life in so many ways.

This board would not exist without the likes of a handful of people like Bradbury. God knows, if most of us lived to be 91, we'd have our most creative days long behind and we'd undoubtedly become grumpier and more conservative. I'm not gonna throw stones until I can write a tenth as well as Bradbury at his worst.

Great story with awesome music score by John Debney..Check it out (it's on YouTube). He was one of the true greats and will be missed in the literary world for generations to come.....

It is very, very rarely that I feel a heart-sinking sense of loss when a famous person I've never met leaves us, but I did when reading the news this morning.

Jun 6 12 4:25 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	As we celebrate the start of summer, a season he wrote about so simply and eloquently. The first time I met him was in 1993 at the FM Con, and he was so warm and likeable, I really wanted to hug the man who had written to me twelve years earlier. I wish I had a video of his terrific presentation at that event. I am not and never will be a spiritual person, but Ray Bradbury was a wonderful inspiration. I'll look at the picture of us on my wall, raise my glass, and say, "Thank you, Ray, and goodbye."

Jun 6 12 4:32 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I first became acquainted with Ray Bradbury through the comic book adaptations published by EC Comics. This was via the reprints from the seventies, as I was too young to read them when they were first published. Even as a 10 year old kid, I was amazed at how beautiful Ray's prose could be(and at how literate his writing was able to make a comic book seem). I devoured most of his books and short stories via the Philadelphia Northeast Regional Library, and now make "The Halloween Tree" an annual read. God rest his soul.
