I'm surprised there isn't a thread for it, since it's partly SF. At any rate, a very good site for it, as far as message boards go, has been gone for some time. Countless times you hear the word "satirical" attached to it, and you also hear how the books stick it to everyone indiscriminately. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think if you're very much a political conservative (which I happen not to be), the "satire" is a whole lot easier to like. Again, that's just an opinion.
Either way, as with so many other adventure stories, the moment I found out it had "femme fatale" characters (my first one was # 23), that became a big thing with me. (Evidently they're mainly apart of the first twenty-five or so books, but in others as well.) Speaking of "satirical," partly (I guess) because the early books are early ' 70s books, a large number of the villainesses are also militant feminists, at least in a "superficial" way, with the slogans and so on. I don't think that was Murphy and Sapir's way of making fun of feminists, period, as much as making fun of that particular kind. Either way, it was kind of an original thing to do.
Anyone, what are some opinions about the series.
