The WonderFest gang was a great host, as always, as the Rondo Awards, and the friends of Rondo, celebrated the TENTH Annual Awards Ceremony at the convention in Louisville.
Technology is changing everything, and this year we had more video acceptances than winners in person. As folks realize they can use an iPhone to take HD quality video and that the videos are easily uploaded or emailed, we're able to see and hear a lot more winners than in past years.
That said, here's a first batch of photos, with more to come. And we will add videos as well. Hopefully others will post, too.
All photos, as usual, by Eileen Colton, CHFB News, unless otherwise noted.

Setting the table: The Rondos sit quietly as preparations are made for
another Rondo awards Ceremony at WonderFest in Louisville. The awards
have made seven appearances there, thanks to the WF gang.

Not yet ready: The Rondo co-hosts, Linda Wylie and myself are having too much
fun in the Old Dark Clubhouse, but showtime is near.

Sharp-dressed couple: Arriving to the music of 'Beautiful Dreamer' from
MIGHTY JOE YOUNG, David and Nurse Moan-Eek make their entrance.
The crowd applauds the return of the good Nurse, who was replaced mysteriously
by her 'sister' last year.
Nurse Moan-eek explains she had been appearing on
'Dancing with the Dead.'

Monster Kid of the Year: Tom Stockman of St. Louis was a double
winner, taking the Rondo on behalf of the Vincentennial event he
organized, and also receiving the Monster Kid of the Year award for
his efforts. He was introduced twice, once by Cortlandt Hull of Witchs'
Dungeon, and again by former MKOTY Raymond Castile.

Moebius on Broadway!! Frank Winspur of
Moebius Models holds a pair of Rondos for
sculptors Jeff Yagher and Adam Daugherty,
creators of the 'Bela on Broadway' model kit.
A third Rondo is headed for the Moebius company
as well.

All you zombies: Every Rondo ceremony has
a moment or two that touch everyone. This year it was
in the two art categories.
The CHFB's own Roger Koch, who is known also as Zombie Dad,
took home the Linda Miller Fan Artist Award.
He delivered a touching speech, thanking the many
friends and CHFB members who encouraged him,
including artist Frank Dietz and collector Robert
Taylor. With his family proudly at his side, Roger
shared his pride with all of us.

Artist of the Year: Family figured too in the
speech by Mark Maddox, whose various covers
of monsters old and new made him this year's
top artist. Mark credited his family with standing
by him, bringing a tearful reaction from many
in the audience -- and on the stage!

Film historians: Tim Lucas, at left, holds his record twelfth Rondo as
the 'Video Watchdog' editor took home his fourth Writer of the Year
award. He's with documentarian Daniel Griffith, whose 'Beware the
Creeper' look at the life of (guess who?), Rondo Hatton won the award
for Best DVD Extra.
Dan also gave a sneak peek at his upcoming documentary on the making
of Hammer's TWINS OF EVIL. And he's looking to expnad his Rondo Hatton
feature as well.

Accepting for: One of the surprise delights of the
night was the appearance of writer/director J.D.
Feigelson, who wrote DARK NIGHT OF THE SCARECROW
and directed several episodes for the revived
TWILIGHT ZONE in the 1980s.
J.D. accepted for Image's TWILIGHT ZONE BLU-RAY
BUNDLE, for RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES
(produced by his friend Peter Chernin), and for Dave Fuentes
and Dave Albaugh, winners of Best Blog for TERRORS
FROM BEYOND THE DAVES.
It was great to have him -- he does a great Rod Serling
impression -- and later he shared anecdotes about Ray Bradbury
with biographer Terry Pace.

Weird science: Nashville's Doctor Gangrene accepts
the Monster Kid Hall of Fame Award for New Orleans
horror host, comedian and mystic scientist Morgus the
Magnificent. Doc helped spearhead the effort to
get Morgus the honor, and thanked everyone who voted.

A beauty of a winner: The wondrous Julie Adams closed the show with
her induction into the Monster Kid Hall of Fame. Now far from her
days being stalked by the Creature from the Black Lagoon, Julie is an
author and a popular convention guest all across the country.

Foursome: The doctor seems unusually interested in the miniature
Rondo heads. An experiment brewing?

Rondo winners and acceptees: The winners and acceptees gather for a final shot. More than a
dozen other winners sent videotapes, which we will post soon.

Monster Kid: Cameron McCasland took this gotta-smile shot of
his daughter Marie taking it all in from the best seat in the house!
More later...
