May 25 12 3:08 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	for the most part i hate disco/dance music.i hated it all for a long time but i soften up to some acts.donna summer, andrea true and gloria gainer for a few because despite the music itself they have good singing voices. the reason i have such a negative attitude about it is it put creative progressive /album rock that was big from the mid 60`s to the mid 70`s in the backburner of music popularity where it remained.and for that i can not forgive the whole genre. May 30 12 10:29 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	punk was never so popular it could replace a style of music. disco was .disco may be gone now as well as progressive rock for the most part , but dance music is still here. i just have a hateful attitude for the most part for dance music because the music i liked has vanished as far as newer muusic for the most part. i am a grouchy old man in that respect. I am more inclined to go along with you, for the very reason you gave. I would probably say from a dollar stance, Disco slaughtered Prog. From the critics stance, it was Punk. Music tastes change... even if punk or disco hadn't come along, something else would have replaced prog no matter what. What killed disco? What killed punk? What killed big band? What killed baroque? Time.

Time. Time and evolution. Punk evolved into post-punk (and other styles), disco evolved into house (and other styles), big band music evolved into bebop (and other styles), and so on. Music is never static, though revivalists try to make it otherwise (and don't succeed, in my opinion). James
