Are reprints of classic horror mags devaluing the originals?

May 24 12 8:21 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I think it's great you can buy reprints of mags like FM #1, and get hardbound volumes of the early Warren mags, but since these are readily available, aren't they devaluing the originals?

May 24 12 8:29 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Yes and no. Looking at comics as an example, where individual issues can be highly collectible, and reprints are available in many formats. Rare, high-demand books like the early FMs won't see a drop in value (whether they increase in value as much as they would have is another matter, and there's no way to know). No matter what format those issues might be reprinted in, collectors want the original for their collection. On the other hand, reprints of middle-of-the-road issues will likely devalue all but the highest-grade issues on the collector's market. Why pay $10 for an early-1970s issue of CREEPY, when you can get it along with 9 other issues in a nice hardback? Especially since that original is already likely mostly reprints!
