As starhawk mentioned, she had an astonishing voice, and just pigeonholing her as "Queen of Disco" doesn't really give her the credit she deserves. Much like Tom Jones, her vocal talents were often overlooked because of the glitter.

As a fervent fan and occasional DJ of disco, I think to believe that that title somehow belittles someone's talent, is an insult to her legacy and the genre. All music (like films and art in general) is enjoyed subjectively, and to beat the 40 year old dead horse of "Disco Sucks" to the tune of classic rock is sad.Does disco translate well to a straight WASP living in a country or suburban setting? Maybe. (It did for me.)Does it give multicultural urbanites a chance to shake off the seriousness of the lightning paced business world surrounding them, and just enjoy themselves dancing like crazy people? Usually.Donna excelled in this genre and beyond. And let's face it, who ELSE would be named 'The Queen of Disco"?
