LOL According to Roy Thomas, when Jim Starlin first pitched him his ideas for re-vamping the Capt. Marvel strip, the main villain was a Metron type guy. Thomas told him, " If you're gonna swipe from the New Gods, at least swipe the COOL guy".

Thanos is a necrophiliac who aspires to kill everything that lives; Darkseid is a fascist who prefers enslavement. Thanos is mostly a loner; Darkseid has his own planet under his thumb, with tons of brainwashed soldiers and lieutenants and weapons at his command.

Green Arrow will have to be content with his new TV series. But just to strike back, if I were DC, I'd rush out a Justice League movie featuring the Atom before Marvel can introduce Ant Man. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Robin Hood suddenly so unfamiliar? I never bought this claim for audience cliche limits, especially given the continuing reliance on origin stories. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/02/12/iron-man-batman-begins-ar_n_460296.html?a video which shows that audience cliche limits seem quite elastic (This video does not mention 1994's The Shadow.)

Thanos didn't look like a loner to me in The Avengers. He leads an army. Details ain't going to matter though because the public would only see the two of them as similar. Vandal Savage has always been a cool villain though. That might be someone they could use in a JLA film. PS - Saw Avengers for the third time a week ago and it's still a lot of fun! Robert T.

He also spoke at length about the legacy of “A Clockwork Orange” and the late Stanley Kubrick, whose death brought on a complicated bundle of emotions; during a visit to see Kubrick’s widow at the filmmaker’s stately home, McDowell burst into tears — but not before looking around and thinking, “Yeah, I paid for some of this.”
