I did find a compilation CD on line from Luxembourg that included the title cue (is that the one in question?) but I don't know if any are available for purchase.

This film may be fun, but as a confrontation between two of the greatest monsters ever to grace the silver screen, it is a considerable disappointment. The Japanese version is not great, but it is much better, thanks to the satire. My favorite moment is when the iiritable boss (who financed the expedition to find Kong) is throwing a tantrum because Godzilla has upstaged the giant ape in the media coverage. When he declares there can't possibly be anything more to write about Godzilla, one of his underlings raises hand sheepishly and says, "They're making a movie." Of all the Toho films, this is the one ripe for a remake.

DOCTOR 13King Kong vs. Godzilla is one of my least favorite of the classic Godzilla films and probably Ishiro Honda's worst film in my book (though All Monsters Attack may trump it). The Kong suit is way too silly to be anything but a big visual eye-sore. It was a bad idea to pair them and one totally motivated by commerce, given the classic O'Brien Kong would in reality be about the size of a cat versus a human compared to Godzilla and Toho should have been left out of the picture. The Japanese version is better and actually has interesting human characters which the US version mutilates, it's a way better salaryman comedy than a monster film, they should have shot O'Brien's King Kong vs. Prometheus script back in the 50s instead of made this. King Kong Escapes is much like it, though that film would have been far better had they built a better Kong suit.

And I've already gone on record as saying I enjoy the offbeat Kong here.I'll second the notion of it being my favorite rendition of Godzilla also..now SON OF GODZILLA on the other hand...eegghhh. Never been a fan of that googly wall eyed Godzilla ever. I still wonder why the Kong suit (and the one from ESCAPES) was so poorly executed. With all the manner of bizarre and off the wall monsters that Japanese film and TV could crank out at an alarming rate, you would think one based on an actual mammal would be easy enough to pull off. A gorilla suit shouldn't be any more difficult to execute than something like Pestar or Baltan (considering Rick Baker did a decent one in his teens for next to nothing). Looking at Goro in ULTRA Q also,it seems the Japanese FX people had some troubles with doing simian monsters. Makes me wonder why the monster in HALF HUMAN looks so good. Happy accident?
Apparently the FX people had even more problems preserving their costumes....the Goro costume was the same costume used in Kong vs. Godzilla!
