It seems to me that the first generation of horror and sf webzines featured cool graphics and sound effects absent from their recent counterparts. Come on, where can you find anything today as memorable as:

The little green alien running across the FAR SECTOR home page
The leaping/screaming skull at HORROR GARAGE
The icky glooping sound at NOCTURNAL OOZE
The bowing robot at ALIENSKIN
The heartbeat-and-cawing-crow intro at SHADOWED REALMS
Everything at ABERRANT DREAMS--the alien embryo in the jar, the arrow with contact emails attached, the ghost in the library, all the divergent things that could happen when you navigated away from the trailer-on-the-starlit-hill home page

Would anyone else like to add something?
