Since then, i've always been drawn to the heavier and darker side of music. My collection spans the origins of the genre from the proto-60s bands through today's extreme acts. There's many bands that I adore and am curious if there are any hard rockers lurking around these parts? I hope I can see Cooper with Maiden this summer!

I've been a NY/Philly DJ (wedding, club, lounge) part time for ~15 years....so from this part of me: Disco, New Wave, Funk, HipHop(pre-2000), House, Techno, HairMetal Classically trained as a trumpet player...so from this part of me: Jazz, Classical(Including orchestrated soundtracks) Always been a horror/scifi/fantasy geek...so from this part of me: Ambient, New Age I'll listen to solid pre-1980 country-western...especially on car rides heading west... Grew up a classic rock fan...so from this part of me I love a lot of Prog groups ...I can go on, but I'll stop there.

I like alot of different kinds of music, but am partial to metal. I love most classic rock and prog has always been relative to metal anyway. I just saw the Rolling Stone magazine top 500 albums list, and not just was metal given the shaft(five records only!) but there was NO prog at all! So...no Rush, Genesis, King Crimson, Yes etc. Floyd was there, but in terrible spots. Dark Side of the Moon wasn't even top 20! Disturbing. Nice to hear you play trumpet. Cool instrument. I use to be able to play it when I was a kid, but was terrible. I switched to baritone, but that was ages ago!

Do you like any doom bands? I listen to alot of them, including the morbidly depressing, CANDLEMASS, SAINT VITUS and PARADISE LOST. If you haven't, you should check out some MY DYING BRIDE, as they are like an even darker TYPE O.

The later is all "clean" like the albums, "34.788%...complete" and "The Dreadful Hours". Check out the tracks, "Apocalypse Woman", "Sear Me", "The Dreadful Hours", "The Cry of Mankind" and "A Cruel Taste of Winter." This stuff is pitch black.

As a teen and 20-something in the 80s I still love hairband stuff: Ratt, Motley Crue, Poison, Def Leppard. Harder stuff like Judas Priest is another favorite, again depending on my mood. If you were to check my Ipod you'd find everything from A-ha to The Church, to Enya to Zebra. Sometimes when working out, and needing a little "pick me up", I'll drop in some Rammstein. I have no idea what they're saying but it does help get the last few reps completed!

Have to admit that, although I actually love Goth, I never got into the Goth Metal stuff much.

Got to like a lot of the NWOBHM in the 80s... especially love Judas Priest and Iron Maiden. Not really into the Doom Metal, or Death Metal (or Black Metal either) but do recognize a lot of talent and melodic beauty in these genres...so I cherry pick. I like OPETH, Borknager (well, a whole lot of European Power Metal) lots of post-rock (Pelican, Isis, even Agaloch). But mostly, I'm a prog rock geek: the usuals.... also British art/rock/pastoral rock: Barcaly James Harvest, the Moodies, the Enid et al.
