But if some ornery bushwacker put a shootin' iron to my head, I guess my list of Most Watched Westerns would look something like: STAGECOACH THE SEARCHERS LAST TRAIN FROM GUN HILL FOR A FEW DOLLARS MORE ONCE UPON A TIME IN THE WEST LONESOME DOVE And anything where Gene Autry sings BACK IN THE SADDLE AGAIN.

I don't think anyone mentioned Lonely Are The Brave, one I love and have somehow put off buying forever. Would Night Of The Grizzly count as a "weird western"? I'm stoked about the upcoming BR of that title. And as for comedies, I'll add that I have a real soft spot for Evil Roy Slade. EDIT: Also really enjoyed two noir-westerns with Mitchum, Pursued and Blood On The Moon, as well as River Of No Return. Can't buy this at all. I don't like RIO BRAVO as much as I'm supposed to, but I think it's much much better than EL DORADO. I don't think anyone mentioned Lonely Are The Brave, one I love and have somehow put off buying forever It's very good, but just too depressing. I don't think I'll watch it ever again. But Kirk and Gena Rowlands are both terrific. Would Night Of The Grizzly count as a "weird western"? I'm stoked about the upcoming BR of that title. "Weird western"? Definitely. "Horror Film"? Not by me it's not.

Which reminds me, did anyone mention DODGE CITY, which BLAZING SADDLES was largely based off of and contains the mother of all barroom brawls? That movie is so much fun! Ditto, THE PROFESSIONALS, which is one of the best group action movies ever and an easy top 50 action film of all time. RIO BRAVO is better than EL DORADO, but there's nothing wrong with the latter. That's one fun movie. Pete's list covered the bases so well. MAN OF THE WEST-everyone see it. That one needs an audience.

Probably the most amazing cast ever assembled for a single Western totally wasted. The only redeeming factors: Julie Newmar and Catherine Deneuve.

The only redeeming factors: Julie Newmar and Catherine Deneuve. I both agree and disagree, Geez. I agree that McKENNA'S GOLD is bad. Reeeeaally bad. High on my list of worst major motion pictures ever made. But I wouldn't call it a favorite bad movie of mine. Because it's just so....bad. And it's actually Camilla Sparv and not Catherine Deneuve.
