Apr 16 12 4:40 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Billionaire Paul Allen, who owns the Cinerama, is an acknowleged sci-fi geek. He also owns the nearby Science Fiction Museum and Hall of Fame. I understand he paid to have the new 70mm print of 2001 struck. The print will belong to MGM, but will be on permanent loan to the Cinerama. You wanna see the new 70mm print of 2001 at this festival? Twenty bucks. "And the six who lived?" "Dead."

Apr 19 12 9:38 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	2001 always puts me right to sleep (even in the theater) so I wouldn't shell out for that one, but am looking forward to maybe catching WAR OF THE WORLDS and/or FORBIDDEN PLANET which I've never seen on the big screen at this. Aside from its historic aspect, Cinerama has the plus of having actually reasonably priced concessions (including chocolate popcorn!) compared to the multiplexes.

It was great to finally see it in the most appropriate possible situation (it played at the Cinerama for 77 weeks on its original release). The new print looks excellent (and the chocolate popcorn was tasty!).
