I phoned her today and passed along the good news to her, and described to her in graphic detail exactly who Rondo Hatton was and why he's so important. She felt thrilled and honored and is excited about already planning to be at Wonderfest this year...Now when I do my presentation on her at Monsterpalooza I can introduce her as "Rondo Award-winning Julie Adams!' It brought a smile to my face to see Julie Adams' name in the Winner's List this year. I find myself mentally linking the Black Lagoon trilogy with the Rondo Awards because the year I won one Lori Nelson (REVENGE OF THE CREATURE) was a guest at WonderFest (where the awards ceremony is held). I had a chance to chat with her for a while at her table and she was one of the sweetest people in the world.

I’d been campaigning, mostly on facebook, for Vincentennial’s Fan Event of the Year nom, and am happy it won, but the Monster Kid of the Year award was unexpected icing on the cake. If I deserve an award for anything, it’s for reaching out to the right people and assembling the A-Team of key Vincent Price scholars, biographers, costars, and family members that were part of Vincentennial. Not a single person I contacted to get involved in the event turned me down. Everyone liked the idea and wanted to be part of it. I especially want to thank Victoria Price, Roger Corman, Vincent Barrett Price (famously reticent about speaking of his father’s legacy, Barrett sat down and filmed a testimonial for the event), Elizabeth Shepherd, Tim Lucas, David Del Valle, Robert Taylor, Sara Waugh, Jenni Nolan O’Dell, The Film Forum’s Bruce Goldstein, John Malcolm Lampley, Rick Squires (proprietor of the Rondo-nominated Vincent Price Exhibit website - Rick may not have any books on Price published but he’s as essential a contemporary Price scholar as anyone), Cortland Hull (Cortland’s kindness, enthusiasm, and advice – one suggestion in particular – were immeasurable), Joe Dante (who filmed a testimonial for the event and lent us his personal 35mm print of MASQUE OF THE RED DEATH), Joel Robinson (his Vincentennial logo design had the event T-Shirts jumping off the sales tables), John Landis, filmmaker Wyatt Weed (his brilliant short promo film for the event - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7FF-T8MaTPA - set the tone early), and especially the gang at Cinema St. Louis, who I partnered with for Vincentennial. The Cinema St. Louis guys knew little about Vincent Price but loved the local angle and embraced my idea quickly. The scope of the event was due to their top-notch fundraising and cinema-related event planning skills. Also big thanks to my wife Kelly Dopman. Kelly just happens to be the Director of Development and Alumni Relations at MICDS, a private school formerly known as St. Louis Country Day School. Vincent Price is their most famous alumn, and my wife’s fundraising skills got the money ball rolling for the event and MICDS became the presenting sponsor for Vincentennial (I’m proud both of my daughters are currently students at the same school Vincent Price attended!). There are many others to thank on the local St. Louis level but I won’t do that here and they know who they are. Thanks to everyone who attended the Vincentennial events and to all who voted Vincentennial as Fan Event of the Year and me as Monster Kid of the Year. I hope to see everyone in Louisville May 26th. Apr 5 12 10:37 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	So pleased that the indefatigable organizer of the month-long Vincentennial in St. Louis, Tom Stockman, has been recognized with a Rondo Award as "Monster Kid of the Year." I'm told he got an overwhelming majority of the votes, and I couldn't be happier. He labored long and hard on it, and his efforts led to one of the most memorable sets of events and exhibitions I've ever witnessed.

Since I’ll be at Wonderfest to pick up my Rondos, I contacted Dave Conover and asked if there was room in the programming schedule for my “VINCENT PRICE SUPER-8 FILM FESTIVAL in 3D”.It’s a two-hour show that I took on the road when I was promoting Vincentennial, the Vincent Price 100th Birthday Celebration last year. The show consists of six Vincent Price movies projected on old-school Super-8 Sound Film condensed to 9 minutes each (ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN, two different cuts of WITCHFINDER GENERAL, THE RAVEN, PIT AND THE PENDULUM, MASTER OF THE WORLD, WAR-GODS OF THE DEEP), a 7-film Vincent Price trailer reel, Tim Burton’s 6-minute VINCENT, and a 17-minute cut of THE MAD MAGICIAN in 3-D (I have plenty of 3D glasses for everyone – over 250 pairs and the 3D is surprisingly strong), I did the VINCENT PRICE SUPER-8 FILM FESTIVAL in 3D at Horrorhound’s Rondo-winning convention last Spring and just that Super-8 show itself there was nominated for a Rondo (I was up against myself in the Best Fan Event category). I also did the show at Contamination and at some venues in the St. Louis area (where I live). Anyway, I just found out that the “VINCENT PRICE SUPER-8 FILM FESTIVAL in 3D” will indeed be part of the programming for Wonderfest and I will be presenting it Saturday night just before the documentary “The Fantastic World of Bob and Kathy Burns”. Dave can only give me a 90-minute slot so I’m going to have to abridge the show a bit (I probably will delete A&C MEET FRANKENSTEIN, one of the WITCHFINDER GENERAL cuts, and WAR GODS OF THE DEEP). During Vincentennial last year, I did the VINCENT PRICE SUPER-8 FILM FESTIVAL in 3D the night before Vincent Price’s 100^th birthday at a nightclub in St. Louis and capped that event with a midnight screening of my Technicolor 16mm print of DR. GOLDFOOT AND THE GIRL BOMBS. There were Vincent Price fans from all over the world there and it was a special night. That was May 26^th. The VINCENT PRICE SUPER-8 FILM FESTIVAL in 3D at Wonderfest will be this May 26^th. When I find out the exact time and line-up, I will start a thread in the ‘Horror News and Events’ forum about this.
