Directors Cut Survival Horror
The Card Game
Be some of the first to own this game!
Hi. My name is Amy Claxton and I am the owner of Crispy Zombie Productions. About 4 years ago, my husband and I had an idea for a horror movie card game. Something that nobody else had ever come up with. As horror movie fans we wanted to create a game that horror movie fans and gamers could pick up and play, and have fun doing it!
We are raising funds to finish creating a horror-based card game for one or more players, (It has been tested with as many as twenty players) called Director’s Cut Survival Horror: The Card Game. The game is set to debut at the Texas Frightmare Weekend convention May 4-6, of this year in Irving, Texas. After the debut cards will go on sale in July of 2012. The only way to get a copy of the game before July is to back this project, or to attend the convention. Our game is entering its final play testing phase and all design concepts are in place. We almost have print production fully funded and are ready to move forward with raising money for the initial product order. Dark Soldier Design of Vancouver, WA handled all aspects of special effects sand makeup. A photo shoot was held at the end of February, of 350 photos, for the initial card release and the two planned expansions. Over 500 man hours has gone into the photography, 500 hours have gone into the design work and 5000 hours have gone into the play-testing of our game.
The initial release will consist of 4 archetype decks and the Zombie Hospital Scene deck, as well as 3 promo cards. This brings the total to 257 cards for the initial release. Later expansions will have full integrability.
The beta card backs for the action deck and scene deck. The scene deck is larger than normal playing cards, around the same size as your typical Tarot Deck.
The first set of cards is the initial deck, the first movie Zombie Hospital that we wrote for the Director’s Cut Survival Horror role-playing system. There are card sets for two more movies, and plans to release expansions of items and characters at set times during the year. The plan is to write more movies for the Director’s Cut Survival Horror role-playing system and convert them over to the collectible card game. The premise is that anyone can pick up a deck and start playing. The goal of this game is to simply survive the movie, with fewer injuries than your opponents. Each game consists of a 50-card Scene Deck, required to play the game. The Scene Deck is the movie as a whole. Each player has a deck of 50 cards that they have compiled from the available cards and one archetype card. The archetype is the character they are playing in the movie. Each deck is filled with Items, Actions, and Skills to handle the scenes as well as Wounds and other cards that affect game play and the other players. While the card game is ideal for two or even eight players, because players are playing against Scenes as well as other players, this game can be played in a solitaire fashion. The whole premise of the game is to recreate surviving a horror movie, without too many rules to learn. We used games like Uno, Skip-Bo, Munchkin, Last Night On Earth, and more to pull inspiration from. No game like this has ever been created before and we are very excited to release it to the public. We currently have a line of role-playing games bearing the same name and have released a few expansions for those and plan more in the future. The funds raised from Kickstarter will be used in the following way:
- 1. Finalize photo editing and other photography work.
- 2. Finalize the design of the cards.
- 3. Initial product fulfillment.
- 4. Backer rewards
The cards will depict strong graphic violence, gore, and adult situations. Models include the Unchained Girls and other popular alternative models. The initial amount of funds needed is $2,500. Thank you for considering aiding and contributing to this project.
