We've had a "Famous Monsters in Your Dreams" thread, and I think a TV version is even more apropo. Although I've had dreams that took in 360 degree surroundings and drew on touch and smell rather than just sight and sound, most of my night-visions seem to take place in a small area just in front of me. And sometimes "I" watch "myself" as a character on this small mind-screen, as in a TV show! Perhaps the boob tube has actually altered the way we dream.
Anyway, another reason I wanted to start this thread is because I often re-visited the same shows three or four times in Dreamland. Sometimes I dreamed whole episodes!
Recently bought THE SIX MILLION DOLLAR MAN Season One, so that seems like a good place to start. I had one dream wherein a farmer is out in a pasture. There's a small hill on his land, and in the side of the hill is a small cave. There was no narration or dialogue, but apparently the cave had not been there before. A strange muttering echoes from the cave, and the farmer enters to see what it is. (I'm sure there's something Freudian or Jungian in all this . . .) Anyway, there are screams of pain and horror, then silence. Then a full-fledged, prehistoric sabre-tooth tiger emerges!
Inevitably Steve Austin appears, and I was a bit short-changed in the battle department: the Bionic Man manages to hit/kick the Smilodon in the head several times without getting shredded by its claws, and soon the big kitty is laid out on the ground with stars and birdies twittering around its head.
There was an actual episode called "The Pioneers," in which an astronaut returns to earth as a shaggy-bearded, superhuman maniac wearing a silver space suit. I dreamt something similar -- A ship crashes right into the earth (a la THE CREEPING UNKNOWN) out in the boonies. The hatch is kicked open and a figure in a silver suit jumps out and trots awkwardly into the trees. It's not a crazed astronaut, but a crazed humanoid chimp in a spacesuit (a la ESCAPE FROM THE PLANET OF THE APES) who's glowing radioactively to boot! Steve Austin appears -- and has less luck on this outing, spending much of his time hiding behind trees from the Radioactive Mutant Space Chimp! The ape also made loud, omnipresent, echoing grunts and howls, like the ape-aliens in TERROR OF MECHAGODZILLA (Say! My subconscious steals from everything, even when making a distinct "episode"!) That may have been due to bad dubbing, but it was freaky in the dream -- No matter where Austin was, the ape-growls sounded like they were right behind him!
