Jun 7 12 7:41 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Only saw Lisa and the Devil once from beginning to end. Seen bits through the years but never feel any need to see it again. It gets dull and unravels as many of Bava's films do......they start out strong and unravel in the second half. I have a soft spot for Mad Monster Party though. I saw it in theaters and always watched it whenever it came on TV in the 70's. Watching it now.....the only tough parts to get through are some of the musical numbers (but of coures that's what fast forward is for) otherwise I still enjoy it. Robert T.

I must confess KILL BABY KILL, BARON BLOOD, and WHIP IN THE BODY require me to be pretty alert to avoid dosing though I still enjoy all three.

I actually found it intriguing when I saw it upon the original release, despite the reviews trashing it. I recently checked the entry for it on Netflix and found some hilarious shreddings of it that made me all the more curious to revisit. So many films, so little time... H.

Sep 18 12 10:35 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	LISA AND THE DEVIL aired once on Pittsburgh's Chiller Theater, on February 4 1978, paired with HOUSE OF FRANKENSTEIN. I later caught the VHS THE HOUSE OF EXORCISM, which allowed longer love scenes from beautiful Elke Sommer and Sylva Koscina, reteamed after DEADLIER THAN THE MALE, and more violence, as Sylva's death scene featured a full six blows instead of only three (and a close up of her gored head). LISA may have had little commercial appeal at the time, but the same could be said about THE WHIP AND THE BODY, which was heavily censored upon release. I didn't mind Telly Savalas' knowing performance, much of which appears to have been ad-libbed (helping offset the downbeat gloom). I can see how those unfamiliar with it may find it incomprehensible, but nostalgia plays a welcome part in my viewing. I've seen 14 of Bava's films, and enjoyed every one almost equally (except DR. GOLDFOOT AND THE GIRL BOMBS, which defies description). To those in my age bracket, time HAS been kind to LISA AND THE DEVIL. Last Edited By: kochillt Sep 18 12 10:41 AM. Edited 1 times.

" This gorier version was also originally in LISA AND THE DEVIL. According to Lamberto Bava, the print we have these days is a TV print, with some violence cut off. A real restoration of LISA could be easily made in using these longer scenes, as they are in the HOUSE OF EXORCISM print. Of course, I'm speaking of the elements originally shot for LISA, not the added sequences later shot for HOUSE.
