Picked up a second hand copy of the Aurum Encyclopedia on Science Fiction - which I remember spending many long hours with as a child whilst visiting a distant relative - and noticed some rather daft mistakes in it, further compounded by them being repeated in the stills!
How's this for starters?
1) The Black Scorpion was released in 1959.
2) Dick Miller played Seymour in The Little Shop Of Horrors, despite the fact that Jonathon Haze is listed in the Encyclopedia at the top of the film's cast list, with Miller further down. There is a still again labelling Haze as Miller.
3) Ghidrah first appeared in Monster Zero, which is the first film to have Godzilla as a hero. Monster Zero was then followed by Ghidrah The Three Headed Monster later in 1965.
4) Terry Nation created Doctor Who.
5) The evil female scientist in Jesse James Meet's Frankenstein's Daughter is experimenting on school children.
I appreciate the films themselves were harder to repeatedly check up on in the pre-video age, but these mistakes are something that a casual checking of existing fact books or reviews would have corrected. And is The Man With The Golden Gun really science fiction?
