Mar 4 12 12:11 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I used to keep scary complete records of all the monster, horror and sci-fi flicks I saw. Can you say OCD? So I can pretty much pin down date and place for all my genre viewing from 1960 till the late '90s. And, yeah, that is very scary!

It was 15 minutes here until about 1964, then they added another 5 minutes and finally a half-hour around 1967 or 68.

Mar 4 12 7:23 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Wow, great memory, FX! I was watching too! Didn't see the whole thing as I was 5, and got scared by the scene of Gort grabbing Patricia Neal. Finally saw it all the next time they ran it on NBC (don't suppose you know that date?) You know, March and April are my "50's classic sci-fi viewing months". I just launched that last night with ROCKETSHIP XM, if I'd read this sooner I'd have run DAY. When they re-ran it in the summer, I was in California on vacation, Pacific time, and had to watch while it was probably light out. Bobby's flashlight was still pretty cool, tho.

I was just about to explain my reasoning for presenting that schedule, when I remembered that I actually own ONE old TV Guide from 1962, so I decided to double-check. And, indeed, you're right. On the Saturday night in that TV Guide (September 15, 1962), NBC's movie was DIPLOMATIC COURIER (which I remember watching), then 15 minutes of news, then Shock Theatre at 11:15. That night the movie was THE SPIDERWOMAN STRIKES BACK. So, I apologize for the mistake. In my defense, it wasn't just memory that failed me. Somewhere I have a late '70s account from one of the Louisville papers looking back on the old days and listing Shock as an 11:30 show. And right now, I'm wishing I had the TV Guides for every week in '62. (I did notice one other interesting thing in that old mag. The Late Show one night was that Orson Welles' classic, THE MAGNIFICENT ANDERSONS.)

Mar 4 12 3:55 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	One of the plot holes is why the officials appparantly took no photographs of Klaatu while he was in the hospital before he escaped. Failing to do that, couldn't law enforcement prepare sketches of what he looked like from those who did see and talk to him in the hospital. Those sketches could have then been printed in the newspapers and shown on TV to enable the public help to apprehend him. But if that happpened, the people in the romming hosue would have recognized him, and poof- there goes the story.
