I'm beginning work on a short film about Evel Knievel rescuing Ann Darrow from Skull Island (!) and I need a little help with some shots I'm planning. I'm using Sony Vegas Movie Studio 8.0 and am fairly adept with it. However, I'm not sure how to create a certain effect. Here's an example:
I'm standing on the beach of Skull Island, with Kong's giant wall behind me. (Our green screen is 8' fall x 16' wide). We're building Kong's wall and Evel's takeoff ramp (the wall will be about 5' tall), then I'll film those and chroma-key them to the green screen. My problem is how do I shrink me down, so I'm not as big as the wall? I know how to resize something in Vegas, but that would just make me smaller, with the green screen still around me in a square. I need just ME, with no green screen still visible around me.
The same issue comes up when I have Kong in the background, chasing Evel and Ann. I want to see all of Kong and have Evel and Ann be the right scale size. In a few shots I'll just have Kong's legs behind them---in that instance I'll only film his legs, then chroma-key that in behind them, giving the appearance of Kong's major size.
Have any ideas on how to do this with Vegas? If you can give me some solid advice I'll give you a credit in the movie, plus a copy when it's done! (It'll debut at the Monster Bash this June). Feel free to private message me here on the CHFB if you need more details.
