I don't have outside confirmation of this, but Peggy Webber McClory has posted on the California Artists Radio Theatre page that British character actor Ian Abercrombie (Young Frankenstein, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Seinfeld, Star Trek: Voyager, Twin Peaks, Army of Darkness and many more) has passed away.
Here's what Peggy has to say: "Our most beloved and valuable character actor, dance hall song and dance man, classic and comic, true artist, Ian Abercrombie, from England and Scotland has left us. Word just reached me. God Bless his soul forever."
Anita and I met Mr. Abercrombie at the Hollywood Collectors Show a few years ago and frequently saw him at CART performances in Los Angeles. He was a true charmer, and Anita fell head over heels in love with him. We last talked with him at the Norman Corwin centennial in May 2010. He was a warm, sweet, very funny man and always livened up any film or televisions show, no matter how small the role.
Rest in peace ...
