KILL LIST (2011) is a British film that I recommend with some qualifications. It turns out, in the end, to be a clever variation on a very familiar theme, but I cannot tell you what that theme is without spoiling the film. In fact, the less you know about the plot going in, the better. Let me just say that it is about two professional hitmen whose latest contract develops in strange directions, and that it is a legitimate horror film. The film is beautifully directed, acted, and photographed, with occasionally stunning visuals, sound design, and music. My only reservation is that it has a few scenes of extreme and unpleasant violence and is, on the whole, quite depressing, so it may not be to everyone's taste.
