Sep 3 12 10:11 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Steve Ryfle and I discuss this story a bit on our dvd commentary for Mothra, so if you want some details on it, you can go refer to the commentary. I've had the entire serialized story translated as well as memos from the story planning conferences, and it gets very deeply into the mythology of Infant Island and Mothra. It's a bit more of a politicized story as well. The first two thirds are pretty interesting, the last chapter with the attack of Mothra is a bit odd, including Mothra shooting energy beams, which comes out of nowhere. The serialized version really doesn't in any way get into religion. If you want to see a detailed synopsis of Shunro Oshikawa's novel of Kaitei Gunkan/Atragon, I published it back in the 80s in Japanese Giants #7. Ed G.

Just bought the only version of mothra on dvd i could find. it has a couple other old toho movies on it. im hoping thats the one with your commentary on it. it would be great to talk about it more. I think i posted earlier about a number of similaritys in the plot of mothra vs godzilla to the bible story of Christ. there seem to be too many to be a coincidence but its also possible they werent intentional i think. just how the creative process works, you are drawing on everything in your memory banks to create with. idk though , thats one explanation.

Nov 14 12 8:40 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Ed. I got it and listened. Man that was the best commentary ive ever heard on Mothra! Thanks. Your the only one besides me that ever stated that it parallells the bible story. I cant tell you how many times i got laughed at on Kaiju forums for that. But its very obvious to me in the movies. In the rebirth series Mothra even does a Moses like parting of the sea.
