Last night I was watching the Terry-Thomas episode "Man in the Middle" of the early 1970s series "The Persuaders" (with Tony Curtis and Roger Moore). There were some scenes that were meant to be set at an unspecified Russian/Eastern European embassy, including pratfalls of Terry and Curtis clambering in and out of windows... all of a sudden there was this stone eagle, an outdoor staircase ornament, in some of the shots, and damned it if it didn't look just like the eagle at Castle Dracula featured in the titles sequence of Horror of Dracula (1958).
Is there any way that this prop could have found its way to wherever they were shooting the Persuaders, circa 1971? Has anyone seen the eagle show up in anything else from the 1960s or early 1970s? Sorry I can't supply a screen snap--if I manage to make one, I will add it to this thread.
Not really relevant, but lovely to see Stephen Greif (later to play Travis on "Blake's 7") and Geraldine Moffatt in this episode as well.
H.
