Just got through watching this nutty 60's international film starring Sonny Chiba as a news reporter who has to stop a Dr. Evil type from turning humanity into fishmen cyborgs! The fish-men really look quite a bit like the Gill Man, if it had mated with the Golem from the Roddy Piper film version... and the genetic tree also included the robots from Gene Autry's Phantom Empire (not that far off, since they are somewhat robotic).
On IMDB, it mentioned that there are two distinct versions of the film, the intervnational version (that I've seen) with more dialogue, and the Japanese version with more action and less American actors. Has anybody seen the Japanese version, or know more fully how the differences work out? Since Sonny Chiba hardly does any butt-kicking, I assume he does more in the other version.
Also - just who the heck was hottie Peggy Neal, who was another reporter caught up in the havok? It looks like her only three film credits are all Japanese films, so I must assume she came over to try to jump-start a film career?
