It is called From the Archive and every week I randomly look at a British television series and write an article about it. This week I look at an episode of the Nigel Kneale series, Beasts. The episode I examine is called During Barty's Party. It's a great episode though if you haven't seen it, I do give away the entire plot. The episode is called Achilles Heel and although it was the third one transmitted, it was was the last one produced. I also talk about how this series was lost from the BBC archives for nearly 20 years until it showed up out of nowhere on the US cable network Sci-Fi Channel. A lot of the story is a telesnap reconstruction and I write a little bit about the telesnaps and how much I enjoyed this series. This was a fun article to write, I hope you check it out. I have tried to contact moderators and it is hard to see who they are and who I have contacted never responded. I only post in here when there is a series that fits into the genre of this forum. That's why when I do post in this thread, it is sporadic. I just posted an article on the Blake's 7 episode Trial. I really enjoyed it and I touch on the anti-Star Trek vibe some people say the series had. Jul 8 12 9:20 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Trial is one of my favorite B7 episodes. Great performance from Brian Croucher, and Jackie Pearce has some marvelous bits in here. One of the Federation officers is the same actor who played Davros' second in command on Genesis of the Daleks, too (if I remember aright). Great choice to showcase a great series. H.

Aug 4 12 3:37 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	This week I write about the excellent 1981 BBC adaptation of The Day of the Triffids. I look at Part One & Part Two. This is an extremely atmospheric and confidently handled production that takes the viewer on the journey with Bill Marsen after the majority of the Earth's population loses their eye sight. The direction is tight and I think this is the best design for the Triffids. If you have not seen this version, I highly recommend you checking it out. This is really an excellent series that focuses a lot more on how humans deal with an inconceivable crisis more than the carnivorous Triffids. Everything about this production is quite good. I go into detail about these two episodes plus I examine the triffids themselves. Apart from some background information, I look back on the various Triffid designs through out the years. Aug 20 12 7:47 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	This week, I look at the final two episodes of the 1981 adapatation of this series. Now that I am at the end of it, the series really does work well as 3 distinct programs when watching the series in batches of 2. The first set is the actual disaster and immediate aftermath, the second set is Bill being a prisoner to helping the blind and the final set is living life in this new existence. This is series was made as a 3 part for the US network that ran it and it works rather well.
