Simply because you feel that your imaginary "perfect film" has certain shots is not proof that they've existed anywhere but in your imagination. As for PEEPING TOM, the director, Michael Powell, was interviewed again and again through the years about the film, and wrote & lectured about it himself. Astoundingly (!!!), he never mentioned your magical insert shots. Likewise Leo Marks, who wrote the movie. Both knew the value of the imagination, that the mind fills in blanks far better than any filmmaker can. These shots, too, are products of your imagination, where it filled in the blanks just like the makers intended. So it is also with your missing 39 1/2 minutes of helicopter footage from HORROR OF DRACULA.

I just hope when they restore the film, they restore the Renfield subplot that has been missing from all those TV prints. I saw the footage myself in a rare black & white print. This also must have been a pre-release version, because Bela Lugosi was playing Dracula; clearly, Hammer must have been unhappy with his performance and replaced him with Christopher Lee.

Nov 29 11 11:08 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	If everyone recalls, Dracula falls of the cliff right outside his humble abode in RISEN FROM THE GRAVE. Due to the editing it appears that he falls - straight down and lands on the cross sticking up out of the ground - bleeds bloody tears and dies to dust. But, from the final shot (see above) the cross is NOT at the bottom of the cliff below the castle. Instead, it appears to be a few hundred yards away from the base of the cliff below the castle. Therefore, due to this scene and the fact that there are EDITS - there must be footage somewhere where the cross bounced and rolled and flew away from the castle to end up there - plus the same for Dracula! I saw this special print on TV - and - you all should see how a vampire bounces! It's supernatural! It was there. I saw it. And, you're all fools if you do not believe me on this. They just moved the legend to Pennsylvania........., errrrr, Transylvania for this particular film, Of course the scenes of Lee hopping were cut from the film after a test screening caused the theater patrons to throw their popcorn & drinks at the screen. I swear sometimes I slay myself........ Thank yew, thank yew, thank yew!!! I'll be here in the Rubber Room for the next month doing two shows a night, at 9 & 11! You might want to tuck the kiddies in bed before the 11 pm show, as it tends to get a bit risque, & please be sure to tip those hard working waitressess! My great-grandmother, in her later years, used to swear that as a little girl her father taught the kids to play an odd game every evening before bedtime. Each kid took turns slamming an empty mason jar upside his or her head, until one of them succeeded in shattering the jar. Whoever did so "won" the game and was allowed to turn out the lamps before everyone turned in for the night. She was quite senile when she told this story and whoever she told it to never called her on it; they just nodded and smiled quietly. It was just easier that way.
