If you like 45 minutes of watching a girl running around a big spooky house bopping to The Fixx, then I guess this one's for you. Yeah, her booty is nice to look at, but hardly the basis ( eh ) for a horror flick. Even Mary Woronov isn't used to good enough effect. Put a stake through this one. Oh yeah, Ti West has a new one out, "The Innkeepers". Dunno 'bout that. "Lord I love Spring! The birds, the fair weather, the new flowers. It doesn't get any better than this. HOLY CRAP! what's THAT?!?"

Admittedly it's a hard thread to search for because the search function brings up everything with 'house' and 'devil' in it. That's like 20% of all threads. LOL Maybe these can be merged and put into the this folder, now that the movie is no longer 'current'(what DOES that mean? 1 year old?)... I'll add this comment though about the movie that I didn't state in the previous thread: I wish that the entity that approached the girl after she came to, was just an evil human. Not some weird devil-looking thing. That and the 'she's alive and has a satan baby' ending could be taken out, and this would feel a lot creepier to me. If it just ended before the scene in the hospital, all would be well in my book.

I forgot 'bout the recommendation for "House ..." there when I snapped it up last week. It is interesting I panned "House ..." because of lulls in the action dept when this is something that occurs regularly in other movies I love! The difference here is that in similar flicks more clues are dropped than in this one, which is why it bored me. At least in "Horror Hotel", "Silent Night, Bloody Night" and others, plenty of hints are dropped, ratcheting up the mystery factor. So while not much may happen, at least the suspense is buffered with information in those films that creates a satisfying conclusion. The character development of the witches also is lacking ... well, nearly nonexistent. There are effective moments but not enough to make the film memorable. "Lord I love Spring! The birds, the fair weather, the new flowers. It doesn't get any better than this. HOLY CRAP! what's THAT?!?"
