Nov 7 11 3:17 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Apart from the February 10, 1933 show referred to on the TCM page, does anyone know of any other legitimate Kong 1933 radio shows? I use the word "legitimate" because I've seen a few claims that were completely inaccurate. There is the show linked on You Tube which I feel is completely authentic, and I'm guessing it might be a segment of that 2/10/33 show, but I wondered if there was a radio adaptation or broadcast interviews, etc..

On Archive, the guy who posted it with the wrong information was chided by several people, but there is no evidence that the thing was from the '30s at all. The You Tube recording seems real, but that seems to be the only surviving thing, and I suspect it's incomplete.

Nov 13 11 2:31 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	If there was any official radio promo, it was probably one of the entries in "Hollywood on the Air," which was a 15-minute air disc that promoted the latest Hollywood movies, mainly WB, Paramount, RKO and MGM films. They're generally all audio clips directly from the film, or a studio orchestra playing selections from the film (if they were dance-worthy, probably not the case with KING KONG). Frequently, the announcer changes the "Hollywood is on the air!" tag with "Paramount is on the air," or for MGM discs, "Leo is on the air!" J. Theakston Capitol Theatre, Rome, NY

NBC's KRAFT MUSIC HALL used to promo RKO films, beginning in 1934 with DOWN TO THE SEA IN SHIPS. Soon after the studios started producing their own radio promo shorts. MGM's were produced and narrated by Frank Whitbeck, head of publicity and exploitation for the studio and a former vaudeville performer. Dec 7 11 1:27 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	HIOTA was also known as "Leo is On The Air" for MGM promos, and I believe it ran longer than current online radio logs claim, so the Paramount promo is very likely part of the same series.
