I have a late 2009 model Mac Mini. I am trying to connect the mini to an HDTV for both audio and video. So far, no soap. A mini DVI/HDMI cable seems to work fine for the video. Connecting for audio is the problem.
Apple's site says that two cables is indeed the way to go, that I'm fine on the video, and that a cable with a 3.5mm headphone jack plug on one end and two RCA jack plugs on the other will connect the audio. I bought one of these, but I have discovered that my TV only allows you to specify one "source in" at a time. I can specify the video source alone or the audio source alone, but not both. I have tried to find out whether there is a single cord solution to this problem, but nothing so far.
I am close to taking one guy's advice and getting a couple of decent speakers for the mini, and forget trying to connect to the TV for audio.
Anyway, does anyone know a single cord solution for connecting an Apple Mac Mini to an HDTV? Or another workaround besides buying a set of speakers?
Thanks for reading.
