I liked it better than the Shrek origin films. Didn't it come out in 3D on the Big Screen? I'm sorry I missed that. Soundtrack was so good I ordered a copy from amazon. ... Reed

Overall it's better done, not a gag-fest and with better story telling skills, all though Shrek does have the advantage of a character arc that spans several movies and develops over them. Features two villains worthy of inclusion in a Coen Brothers movies. Since the story is set in a faux Spain (I guess) I'd a-liked to see some elements of the Renaissance Spanish novel (maybe a bit of Cervantes,) though it does have a bit of the Novela Picaresca, but I must say the story doesn't really need these additional elements, the way thing works. I'm curious to see it in Spanish to see if it gains anything in that language. Produced by Guillermo Del Toro. Don't miss out 'cause you think it's a merely kiddy film. Jul 8 12 9:43 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I felt the film was a conscious effort to portray a Zorro-like motif rather than Cervantes. The setting might have been Spain, it might have been the southern California desert area, or just a drier part of Fairy Tale Land. The Henry Jackman soundtrack, as good as it was, was also very derivative of the excellent James Horner soundtrack for The Mask of Zorro, also featuring Banderas. ... Reed
