I just wanted to see what you guys might know, or think about this film. Being that it was a Universal Production at essentially, the same time as Dracula and Frankenstein, I just thought that it might add a certain perspective to the state of Universal before, during and after the Great Depression. So far as I know, All Quiet on the Western Front would have been considered a "Universal Super-Jewel" as it was respectfully budgetted, and was indicitive of the kinds of production the studio wanted to make.
In contrast with the fact that Dracula was envisioned as a lavish, Stoker-inspired spectacle, I just thought it would make for an intriguing discussion in the "Universal Horror" forum. Anyone intrigued? I've known of this film, in reputation alone, for quite some time, and am seeing it for the first time as I write this. It looks REALLY good.
