I'm not saying your turntable will suffer this same fate, but you may still have to buy a phono pre-amp. Enjoy the music! (BTW, did you pick up those Beatle 45s? )

David Sechrest wrote:Hi, Joe! Congrats on the new turntable!Built-In Turntable Preamp — I purchased a cheapo ION turntable a few years ago (which I no longer use). It had both a LINE and PHONO switch on the back of the tt. The intent upon buying this tt was to transfer my records to mp3 and flac files. It was hooked up to my computer, and when I bought a new Denon receiver earlier this year (no PHONO inputs on the back!), I thought I'd try it with the receiver. I switched it over to LINE (never plug a PHONO input into connections for anything other than PHONO), hooked it up to the receiver, and put on a record. The volume was so low, I had to crank it up to the max, and even at that, the volume was still very low. Bottom line is, although it came with a phono pre-amp, it just didn't do the trick. I'm not saying your turntable will suffer this same fate, but you may still have to buy a phono pre-amp. They do come in all types and varieties. I saw one at a turntable shop I frequent. It's only $30. But, for me, I'm looking for a tube phono pre-amp, so I'm saving my pennies!Dave ! as I suggested to Joe check out this tube (ECC83 TYPE ) phono stage- http://www.audioadvisor.c...dinfo.asp?number=BLVP130 , they do two versions , basic moving magnet and moving coil/moving magnet . I have pitted this against some serious high end units and it holds up really well.
