It was co-written by my friend, and Gaslight Grotesque and Gaslight Arcanum contributor, Stephen Volk (Ghostwatch, Gothic, Afterlife), so I'm pretty excited about this particular ghost story. Matt Goldberg's review on Collider.com said: "The Awakening is for those who loved *The Devil’s Backbone* and *The Others. It’s for those who want to be transported out of our time and into a sumptuous and haunting place on the hazy line between life and death." Apr 26 12 10:04 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	According to Steve Volk, just this morning, it looks like THE AWAKENING will get a North American release in September. I bought the UK DVD release and have watched it a couple times now. Surprisingly, given that there's a twist, I liked it even more the second time round. It's not a flashy, in your face WOMAN IN BLACK piece, but as MAcX indicated above, it will definitely appeal to those who appreciate the subtleties of The Innocents and The Orphanage, as well as The Others. There's some exemplary character work here from the leads - Rebecca Hall, Imelda Staunton and Dominic West - and a thankfully non-cutesy performance from Isaac Hempstead Wright (the child actor who plays Bran Stark on Game of Thrones).
