Sep 5 11 6:46 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Thanks! I will have this one finished this week. Skin tones are the hardest but the most satisfying of things to paint. The trick is to make the underpainting as chromatic as you can.If you were to see the underpainting the skin tones are made up of hundreds of tiny squiggles of hot pinks, oranges, purples, blues and reds. As the painting progresses, I glaze translucent skin tones over and over till I just about turns the skin opaque. That way all the strong colors are muted but still give the flesh a sense of translucency . Believe it or not, I got the best training when I painted dozens of ROMANCE paperback covers! They gave me a good understanding on how to paint flesh (and there was a lot of that on those covers!) Art is a life long journey, you never come to the end of the road, you just keep learning.
