Just a word of thanks for the appreciation of Michael's volume that has been expressed here. Contributing to the research on the actors and actresses who are covered in this book was one of the most enjoyable experiences that I have ever had, and I again offer sincere thanks to both Tom Weaver and Michael Hoey for believing that I could add to the realization of Michael's concept,which is such a fresh approach to these beloved films. I wouldn't presume to speak for Michael,but I know that I was surprised by the amount of material that can be recovered on these beloved character actors,using a combination of research approaches that are only now truly available in this Internet age.

I also learned that speed mail systems have their limitations--somewhere between Louisiana and California are two Federal Express packages crammed with information on several of these performers that never made it to Michael's doorstep! Fortunately, I was able to re-create most of the information,but I know the disappearance of that information caused some rough moments for both Michael and me!  I again want to emphasize that Michael truly realized his vision here in this book, and I don't know how often any of us can say that as adults. I am so proud of his accomplishment, and so delighted that the board members seem to agree. 

I can speak to the value of this Board that we all find so much enjoyment in--I wouldn't have been involved in the research on Michael's book  at all had I not learned of the board by reading a letter in FILMFAX from our own Ted Newsom a number of years ago. As a result, I have a number of new friends that I could never have expected to talk with or chat here with in any other way. And Rick,I would certainly like to know your assessment of the book; you have been one of the most perceptive and loyal members of the Board, and someone whose opinions I have always valued--and if you find yourself short on cash to get a book in the future,let me know,maybe I can help! Ray and Elisabeth, I really value your comments, and I am glad that you enjoyed the book! (I can tell you,I enjoyed the heck out of what Michael was able to create !)

In the midst of the wonderful expressions of appreciation that this volume is generating,I want to emphasize that Michael Hoey is much more responsible for the final results of this wonderful book than I am; not only did he contribute at least as much to the research as I did, but his is the genius in taking the dry research and making it come alive in the finished product.  Additionally, our buddy and all-around good guy Tom Weaver not only had the faith in me to recommend me to Michael as his research associate on such an exciting project, but Tom helped more than he would ever publicly admit--just as Michael's heartfelt acknowledgement on page 259 of the book confirms.  My appreciation starts with both of these truly great guys, but I am happy to accept thanks for our efforts on their behalf.
