Poked around and did a search, with no results other than a Blue Ray release, so I thought I'd see if this film had any traction out there. I watched this again the other day and was charmed all over again. There's so much fun stuff and yet, despite all of the great comedy, a complicated story structure that the filmmakers pull off quite easily. This is one of my favorite films of the eighties, and while the sequels are a dissapointment to me, this was a great mix of comedy and destiny. The idea of Marty's mom falling for him is a great example of a second act plot twist, but Marty's dad completely stole the show in this film and was missed in the sequels.
I did not grow up in the fifties, but as a kid who grew up in the sixties and seventies, I still felt many resonances and memories of the fifties from the adults around me and shows on television from that time. Biff is a fantastic villain, and has a great turn at the end as a car wax guy, but some of the psychology and social commentary of how Hill Valley had either progressed or regressed during the story is endlessly fascinating to me. And lastly, Marty, Doc and the Delorean's endless racing, banter and shenanigans make this a movie I'll never forget.
