Jul 13 12 8:59 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Fellas, I hear ya. But: 1. We're not talking about a FRANKENSTEIN situation here: dropping in one or two cuts from a different source. We're talking about putting back together a checkerboard of two different prints over the whole length of the movie. And the source prints look a lot different -- that kind of crosscutting can really be wearing on the eyes, to the detriment of the film. 2. I've been following this buzz for years, and word from people who've seen the actual footage is that the UCLA Show-At-Home stuff, while not as good as the '29/'30 material, looks MUCH better than that in the '25 DVD release most of us know, the Milestone. -Craig

Jul 14 12 6:09 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	This showed last night at the film forum but i did not stick around to see it. The very hefty "100 years of" program book that came free with the movies (drac and frank- looked beautiful by the way) mentioned the phantom print as the '29 but a UNI-UCLA restored version. I'm very confused as to what this could have been and if the folks I was with did not "Poop out" so early I would have stayed to find out. It does get a page to itself in the program along with Black cat ('34) and shrinking man, cobra woman (?) etc. The program mentioned more horror than than I would have gave Uni credit for and I was pleasantly suprised. It was called 100 years of Universal on tour or something similar. After seeing how great Frank and Drac looked I may have to go back to the film forum to see black cat and it came from outer space in 3-d! Don't think I want to miss black cat if its going to look like the others. I wouldn't be able to live with myself! Jim Edit: heres a link to the program page with Phantom on it.
