There have been many threads dealing with this film but I'm trying to find something specific out about it. At this point in time, can someone please tell me what the "best" version of this film is on DVD/Blu-ray?
Last night I watched portions of the TCM airing, and I thought the music was different from the DVD I have from Image. Is this one different? More preferable than the older '90s Image DVD?
And then there have been so many other DVD/Blu releases of PHANTOM. Have we finally reached a point in 2011 where there is now a definitive preferred version of the film?
Is the 1925 version still only available as a sub-par 16mm?
I'd like to have, once and for all, the best quality of this film - with the correct and more subdued color tinting if possible.. and whatever edit has the most footage, or presents the more fleshed out/best story (would that be the 1925 instead of the 1929/30??). And which version has the better score, and why?
