Being probably the most famous of the OTR Detective/Mystery/Superhero shows; I was wondering which title/stories you like best? My two have got to be- The House that Death Built & The Nursery Rhyme Killer. I think it's Killer and not Killing?

Jul 27 11 9:10 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Boy it's a tough call. The first few to spring to mind are SPIDER BOY, THE BONES OF THE DRAGON, and TEMPLE BELLS OF NEBAN. But that's just off the top of my head. Then there's the LITTLE MAN WHO WASN"T THERE(might have the title wrong) and the one about time travel set on new years eve. The title escapes me at the moment.

It has been so long since I have listened to any of THE SHADOW episodes some of the titles escape me now. I remember discovering the episode that was obviously the inspiration behind Bob Kane's and Bill Finger's creation of THE JOKER. The modus operandi was exactly the same! I'll have to search through my SHADOW tapes and MP3's to see if I can relocate it. - GJS

I'd love to hunt that one down.I have a pretty decent collection of records and mp3's but with the shadow there's a lot to keep track of.

Jul 28 11 9:41 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Another episode I like is- The Creeper; the 1938 version with Orson Welles as Lamont Cranston. Its really the voice of the Creeper that I enjoy in this story. The actor gives him an eerie crazy quality. Does anyone know who(m) that actor is?

I was 11 or 12, going on a Boy Scout hiking trip, and driving up in one of the Scout father's Broncos he played an episode - I thought it was the neatest thing I'd ever have heard! Some point soon after I was with my Mom in some store - maybe even a car wah - and there was one of those racks of crappy audio cassettes. There was a cassette with two eps of the Sahdow, which I begged my Mom to buy me. The eps were DEATH HOUSE RESCUE and, I can't remember the title, but Cranston had a dream that the bad guys shoot down Margo on a city street. Long story, but for that reason DEATH HOUSE RESCUE is one of may faves. I also like THE TOUCH OF DEATH, THE GHOST ON THE STAIR, and CIRCLE OF DEATH. I have a disc of something like 90 MP3s I got from Serial Squadron. How many total exist? From what little I know, it seems like there are some entire seasons that are lost (so far). (Not a big fan of The Shadow series; fun premise, but there's SO much more Classic Era Radio that's so much better done.)

Oct 26 11 11:04 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Death Stalks the Shadow. The death row scene at the beginning between a condemned man and his crooked lawyer is especially powerful. I love the acting in the "character" parts in this and a later death row scene. It is pitch perfect.

Dec 22 11 8:30 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I always thought The Creeper (and other insane characters in the early radio days of The Shadow) was played by this little pudgy character actor whose name I can't think of, but every time I see him in an old movie, I'm always reminded of how well his voice would've fit Winnie The Pooh. Hell, his face even had a Pooh expression to it, but still can't think of him or the films I've seen him in.... As for favorite episodes, I also have always enjoyed Welles in The Creeper, Johnstone in The Shadow Challenged and Morrison in The Gibbering Things. It's been alot easier finding shows when I include the titles (which you guys have generously provided), so you have my thanks for that and for the suggestions. I sure dug The Creeper with Orson!The first time I listened to it, when the Creeper first makes his appearance I would have bet a fortune that he was played by none other than...Dwight Frye! Give it a quick listen and maybe you'll see it too.

The SHADOW episode I was thinking of is entitled: THE LAUGHING CORPSE from March 10th 1940 (Interesting that The Joker made his comic book debut just a few months later, in the spring of 1940 ).
