I've never understood the interest in the character--his 'power' is that you can't see him. Big deal. It's not scary, the comedy is campy (I know ,that's the point...), and it's a chore to sit through. I've seen people rave about this and I just don't see the appeal. D'oh!

Double Post. But while I'm here, I might as well admit to feeling ambivalent toward a lot of old movies, KONG and the Universals among others -- as an adult, I appreciate the ins and outs of the scripts, dialogue, behind-the-scenes work, etc., more than I did as a kid, yet at the same time they are starting to look and sound old, slow and creaky. Next thing you know, I'll be like my friends who never watch anything in black and white.

The supporting cast is very wet and lack any real dimension with the possible exception of Dwight Frye.
I will also mention the original INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS(1956),

I think Mae Clarke and Edward Van Sloan's characters are pretty well drawn, as is the humorous Baron, Henry's dad.

There's a wonderful atmosphere to these old movies which I think is more responsible than anything else for making them work. If that atmosphere doesn't work for you I imagine they could be pretty heavy going.
