Naturally, one never sees the lost city, but that's a fantasy-trope worth including on the list.

DEAD IN TOMBSTONE (2013) is definitely a Weird Western. Danny Trejo plays Guerrero, the leader of the Blackwater Gang. When he is betrayed and killed by his gang he ends up in a private session with "The Blacksmith (Mickey Rourke)" in which he strikes a bargain: He'll deliver the souls of all six traitors in exchange for his own. The deal is on and Guerrero returns to Tombstone where he has one day in which to kill all his targets.
This is a high energy, modern Western employing state-of-the-arts graphic novel visuals, special effects, slow motion, and rock music but still follows traditional revenge genre tropes. Nothing particularly new here if you've watched Westerns all of your life and it's fun for a good while before it seems to get old. There are some interesting moments, the approach is serious, production values are good in this direct-to-DVD production, and overall I liked it.
It seems like Trejo's career has taken a modest Charles Bronson turn with his sudden ascendancy as an action movie star. I like the guy and enjoy seeing him in these roles. I'll pretty much give anything with him in it a look. Rourke sounded looped by another actor in most, but not all, of his scenes. If you haven't kept up with Anthony Michael Hall you probably won't recognize him as the man-who-would-be-king. Reportedly shot in Romania.
