Since about the age of 13,Elwy's movie shows were a regular part of my week.Sure,MAGIC SHADOWS usually cut up movies into 25 minute segments, but the Friday episode almost always had a chapter of a vintage serial-Flash Gordon,Captain America,Nyoka;I would never had been exposed to these if it weren't for his show. And his interviews could be great, too.I remember when The Thing was shown in 1980,after it ended a rather gruesome clip of a woman being attacked by little gnome-like children was shown.Yost said it was an uncut version of a scene from The Brood that was hacked up by Ontario censors, which led to an interview with David Cronenberg. He always had interesting interviews, whether it was Rod Taylor talking about The Birds,or Michael Powell and Emeric Pressberger.R.I.P.
