And there are quite a few other horror-hosted movies available on the gray market, but I certainly have never seen LONDON AFTER MIDNIGHT among them and, unfortunately, I don't expect to.

Bela Lugosi in a Fritz Lang movie about a Jekyll/Hyde story... How much more could you wish for in one movie... Jan

Lon Chaney's first horror film, directed by Maurice Tourneur, co-starring John Gilbert, and set in a wax museum.

(I'm not going to wade through hundreds of pages of posts to see if this has been discussed before). As I understand it, the epilogue was removed from the negative around 1938 or so, and a new neg was later struck from the edited original (the uncut 1931 original was later destroyed or decomposed). So the master neg used for TV syndication didn't have the epilogue, and neither would any of the prints. Please tell me if I'm mistaken.

But...I'm not an expert on this particular subject and I'm loathe to categorically deny that the epilogue is on the Roland recording till I can watch it again. (But I'm pretty durn sure.)

Jul 21 11 12:44 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I have seen that epilogue a few times on television, probably on 16mm prints as the versions were darker and more scratchy then some other showings. Last time was in 1978 at a motel in North Carolina. I have checked my memory a few times to make sure I didn't archive that memory incorrectly. In fact, I didn't realize the epilogue was missing until it was mentioned being missing around the time of the first DVD release of DRACULA.

A big deal was made, several years ago, about a print of the uncut CARNIVAL OF SOULS being rediscovered -- 10, 15 minutes of footage cut before release and never seen. I got the "restored" CARNIVAL OF SOULS and it was exactly the same as the CARNIVAL OF SOULS on the VHS tape I'd owned for years and years. A friend in North Carolina had recorded it for me, off some little local TV station, in the early '80s. Well, it turns out that that North Carolina station bizarrely had ended up with, and telecast, a print of the full, thought-not-to-exist version.

One of my old CARNIVAL posts mentions another tidbit which, as long as I'm repeating myself, I'll also repeat here: As a kid, I saw on some local NY TV station a print of THE BLOB that included a shot of the small-town doctor getting Blobbed, as seen by Steve McQueen from outside as the doctor bangs up against the window and messes up the Venetian blinds. Try finding THAT shot in any print today.

It happens to fall right where the lab sections splice is. I wouldn't be surprised if by chance it slipped into prints out there (no, it's not in the "general release" version of the film). J.
