“carl hernz is a lying piece of sh#4!” “we should stop him!” “I don’t care anything about you…You probably don’t even have Parkinson’s disease.” “u should be hunted down by a mob” UPDATED: These are the type of comments I was getting. This is the type of harassment so-called phans or at least people claiming to be POTO fans have been sending me for days. They grew ever more threatening, so I stopped. I’ve not been doing anything but happily trying to include my readers along with things I was doing. About 2 weeks ago things started taking a dark and ugly turn. Whatever or whoever is at the root of this no longer matters. Not being to make all people happy is one thing, but being threatened for I am not sure what it was I did, I draw the line there. I tried to roll with the punches, but the messages have got out of hand. This blog is discontinued and I will continue my work privately from here on. All videos have been removed, and all my sites are going down. I thank all the interested ones, and you will get all future information on my projects through other means in the future. But to protect myself from further harassment I have decided to disconnect myself from direct contact with the public. I still hope that most persons are honest and caring, that most are trustworthy and would never do such things. And despite those who are being hateful, I wish all only the best. I will let the future, my work, and the way things end speak for themselves. Thanks to all who have helped and supported me up till now.–CH

I simply posted all this because A: my thread on the other forum got misinterpreted and B: I really don't like seeing people being called frauds by others when they have no proof to back up their claims. All I'm saying is please don't plant yourself firmly in either the "he's a fraud" camp or the "he's not a fraud" camp until the movie comes out { or the Chaneys' make a statement saying whether the footage has been found or not }.

Q: Is this a 3D conversion of the original silent movie with Lon Chaney? A: No. As most already know, the silent movie was filmed with two cameras at the same time. One reel was to go out as the international version while the other was for distribution in the United States. The distance between the two movie cameras (the lenses being approximately 2.5 inches apart) was enough to render a true stereoscopic image. Approximately 75% of the film can be processed in one way or another to restore this effect. Q: Does that mean the rest of the film will be left untouched? I’d hate to see another botched 3D conversion, especially of this classic. A: The entire film will be in 3D, with the other scenes converted but with a significant difference than what has been seen before. To begin with, Carl Hernz has been creating all types of drawings and photographs in 3D since he was 7 years old. He is a master at the art of stereography. When it comes to rendering scenes he often does not use any of the techniques or software others have been using. Some of the unique sequences have even been rendered based on key frames converted by nothing more than Carl’s own sight and hand, pixel by pixel. Early test screeners thought that Carl’s conversions were the native stereo scenes. This is not to say that other conversion have all been poor. In fact most people still don’t realize that the recent Alice in Wonderland was a conversion or that the 3D version of The Nightmare Before Christmas is the same. Conversions can sometimes be chosen over native filming if handled correctly with similar stunning and audience-pleasing results. Besides, the remaining parts of the film are either reshot sequences (such as the unmasking scene) or the famous Technicolor sequence where the Phantom interrupts the masked ball dressed as Red Death. A few other scenes are either unique in themselves or do not have a stereoscopic match (the same view as shot from one of the cameras was used in both reels). In almost every case there is a stereographic shot of a similar scene with all the visual cues necessary to make a scene look as a natively shot 3D scene.
