Jan 21 06 2:32 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Pure luck. I was using Google to locate sources for sf and horror DVDs, typed in "50s Horror DVD" and found a link to that folder of the CHFB. From there, it was an easy matter to sign up and participate. ... Reed

Jan 22 06 6:51 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I was good friends with Count Gamula, FXRH, and Ryan Brennan, who were all posting on the old AOL CHFB. Of course I didn't have AOL, so it was damn frustrating always hearing them talk about 'this controversy' or 'that controversy.' Then Kerry started the message board as part of Monster Kid Magazine (which I read religiously). Back then it was just Laughing Gravy, Blackbiped, Joe Karlosi (right?) and a few others, I think. I would read posts, but I didn't ever post myself because I was a member of another board where people routinely crucified you for breathing funny. However, I did notice that everyone was incredibly polite here and Kerry kept saying, "You should post, you should post." So I finally did (bet he's sorry now!). Then came the big exodus from AOL and the rest is history. I sometimes wonder what the scattered few who were posting here originally thought when they suddenly found themselves among hundreds of horror fans (and practically all at once)! As a matter of fact, I think some of the original posters just disappeared as soon as that happened.

Jan 23 06 11:21 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Like Blackbiped, I chanced upon it while searching through the available ezboard forums. I was struck by it's simple complexity. Just about all I'd ever want to discuss about the horror experience in a tight, clean forum. The one thing that surprised me initially (a little over a year, I guess - time flies!) was the restrained use of images in such a graphically important topic, horror films. (except for the best horror babes!) Of course, that has changed a lot since the birth of the Frankenstein thread and the mystery photo vault.

Jan 23 06 9:15 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Before the old Sinister Cinema message board went south Bill Warren made a post about his friend creating this online magazine called Monster Kid and provided a link. I loved the look of it and kept tabs on new "issues" and eventually noticed that Kerry added the message board. In those days you'd have to wait several days to find a new post or reply! Imagine that. By the way, will there be a new issue of Monster Kid anytime soon?

Jan 29 06 1:04 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I found Kerry's wonderful MonsterKid site by surfing the internet looking for classic monster movie sites. Then I noticed the message board link. Since I'd been posting at StoogeWorld since 2000 and set up my own EzBoard in 2002, it was easy to dive in here. Was a bit reluctant at first cause I was already involved with 4 other boards/groups, but how can any respectable monster fan resist this place?

I've spent the last 2-3 hours (and have only scratched the surface) of prior posts. Very impressed, as would be Sgt Friday, with this boards no nonsense "just the facts" attitude. Truly refreshing and will hopefully add my 2 cents on a couple subjects soon. David

I don't remember what topic was being discussed (probably the spider pit), and there was a post from some guy going by the handle "GaryP11111", recommending an interesting related thread over on some website called "Classic Horror Film Board". And it was pretty much like falling into a tar pit. Once I was here, I couldn't get out. This place covers EVERYTHING I was interested in, instead of just one film or one sub-genre. Also, I've visited a few other horror message boards and never felt particularly welcome. So often, people treat it like some kind of competition over who knows more. And you'd better not reveal the slightest ignorance on some detail or other, lest you get blasted for it. I'm not pretending to be an expert. I'm just a guy who has loved these films his entire life. The people on this board have consistently been interesting, informative, open-minded and mature. I appreciate that. http://www.necromerica.blogspot.com
