Quote:The problem with silent or subtitled movies is you have to devote your full attention to them. I watch a lot of stuff while I'm at the computer or drawing board but there's no way to do that if you have to read all the dialoge.

I love Santo! My favorite is "Santo en el Museo de Cera" (Santo in the Wax Museum). I can't always keep up with the Spanish, but would rather do that than hear it in English.

SANTO CONTRA LOS ASESINOS DE OTROS MUNDOS (Santo vs. the Assassins from Another World) This DVD is being released next month (Feb. 19th) by Xenon, an American company that issued Rudy Ray Moore's Dolemite pics. So far I can't find any information about whether or not the disc has English subs.

From having seen other Xenon DVD release I highly doubt this will have subtitles as the price is rather cheap and also the Mexican import DVD doesn't have any subtitles so it would be hard to believe the cheapskates at Xenon would invest time and money into adding subs but hopefully I'll be wrong so those of you who don't speak Spanish can enjoy this wacky ultra low budget Santo film with a blob-like space creature which is played by extras in a giant size bean bag has to be seen to believe.

I agree with you Omega Man it shouldn't be such a big deal to add subtitles to Spanish language films but for some reason most companies issuing Mexican movies on DVD don't seem to be interested in making that extra effort because they don't think it will improve their sales much.
So it's nice to see that BCI has begun to start issuing more Mexican horror and luchador films with subs as just a couple of years ago they wouldn't bother to do so too.

Hi Fu Manchu you're best bet for finding Santo films on DVD is EBAY or Amazon.com but not all have subtitles and if you want more info on what Santo films are available on DVD and which have subtitles check out this post at the Latarnia forum where I listed such info for all of his 52 films. BTW the DVD of SANTO VS THE VAMPIRE WOMEN with English & French subs is very difficult to find (out of print) and sells at a pretty high price.
