This was one of those movies I saw on television as a child and remained obsessed with throughout the years. I told all my friends about it but, none of them had ever seen it. It became one of those elusive movies that never turned up again. I never even knew the title of the film until about 4-5 years ago. Then, after finally identifying the film, I ordered a VHS copy of it.
It, gratefully, lived up to my childhood memories! Not a 'masterpiece' by any stretch of the imagination... and yet, a fascinating nightmare!
Particularly memorable were the scenes where The Punisher attaches a cage to a woman's head and removes the partition which allows a rat to attack her face! And the scene where Christopher Lee reveals the identity and history behind The Punisher, as well as the scene where The Punisher is unmasked! ( A phantom of the Opera moment if ever there was one! )

These images were indelibly imprinted in my memory since I was about 10 or 11 years old! I still marvel that such a film was actually shown on television during the mid 1960's!
