Feb 6 05 6:23 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I recently bought this William Castle thriller on DVD. I don't know if most will consider it up there with "House On Haunted Hill" or "The Tingler", but I got a real kick out of it. The ending was obvious all these years later, but it didn't detract from the film at large. There's a shockingly violent-for-the-time stabbing early on in the movie and Jean Arless is excellent as the tightly-wound Emily.

Oct 15 07 2:13 AM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	What a corker this was. Castle out Castles himself here, he really did have a Hitch complex didn't he. So much so, that he almost has DePalma beat in that department, though at least DePalma's films are richly obsessed, layer upon layer. I love the way he pronounces HOME-icidal in the films introduction, in cheeky reference to the 'Home Sweet Home' like needle-point title card! I'm sure I'm going to enjoy Castle's earlier efforts for Columbia, before he became the Barnum like showman of the later films. This seems to sit on the edge though...and has it's moments, there is at least a weird atmosphere creeping through it, and Arless IS just plain creeepy! The print TCM aired the other night was widescreen, and really crisp. "Your brain is too feeble to concieve what I have accomplished!!" Last Edited By: Doc Carruthers Oct 17 07 1:36 PM. Oct 15 07 12:45 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	I happened upon TCM's airing Fridy night. It almost seemed as though this widescreen version was a faux letterbox presentation, stretching the image and cropping the top & bottom. I have the dvd (which is not widescreen), and TCM's version did not seem to add any additional information to the sides of the screen. Anyone else notice this?
