Jun 6 11 2:54 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Checked the forum and didn't see anything about the new MTV series TEEN WOLF. I decided to check out the show since I'm a big werewolf fan and while it didn't feature anything new as far as story (think of TWILIGHT with werewolves instead of vampires), the acting was fairly good and the teen wolf's makeup obviously was inspired by the WEREWOLF OF LONDON. No surprise it seemed made for the TWILIGHT, VAMPIRE DIARIES, TRUE BLOOD crowd. Again the main character was bitten by what looked like a wolf, but when he transformed, he was half human-half wolf. (Actually looked more human than wolf). Typical teen-angst....but then again what you'd expect for a series made for the teenagers who watch MTV. Not great but also not that bad either. (A show I probably would have enjoyed a lot more if I were 13 again).

Think more along the lines of TWILIGHT or the early years of SMALLVILLE but instead of Bella's POV in TWILIGHT, TEEN WOLF is from Scott's (the teen wolf)'s POV. And they even bring up the WOLF MAN movie with Lon Chaney Jr and wolfsbane. Scott is bitten by another werewolf (who appears in the story quite often); his best friend (who is the son of the local sheriff) uses his computer to dig up all the info on werewolves he can find; Scott falls for the new girl in town and uses his "heightened" senses to get on the lacrosse team and impress her. And her father is the guy who leads the hunt to kill the werewolves who are killing people. Tyler Posey plays the teen wolf. And it looks like in episode 3, Scott changes into a werewolf in front of Alison (the girl he likes) after they sneak out at night and end up on a school bus together.

Watching one episode,I was amused and annoyed by a terrible TV spot for MODERN PROBLEMS. Now back to the thread about Butch Patricks hassles with puberty.

The teen-skewing werewolf show is the network's highest-rated new series this season, attracting about 1.7 million viewers on Mondays at 10 PM, where it has doubled the time-period average compared with a year ago.

If after that they had no interest in watching it then OK...but to dismiss it without even giving it a look? It's nothing like the movies and is actually pretty good. The two-part season 2 epsiodes introduced a few new things (more werewolves and even what looks like another were-creature, plus showing a werewolf-turned back to human sliced in half with a sword on camera! And it appears that Russell Mulcahy directs every epsiode too....

Jun 10 12 1:06 PM Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	TEEN WOLF is more like a werewolf version of VAMPIRE DIARIES on the CW than TWILIGHT. But let's be honest...it was the success of the TWILIGHT films that have led to series like VAMPIRE DIARIES, TEEN WOLF and even TRUE BLOOD. So far all of the werewolves in TEEN WOLF have worn makeup rather than CGI (as I've mentioned before Tyler Posey's makeup owes a lot to the WEREWOLF OF LONDON design) and he scoots along at times like the WOLFMAN in the recent remake. Think of it more like a teen version of WOLF than of TWILIGHT. And again...if you watch a show or two and still don't like it fine....but you should at least give it a chance.
